The UK seems to have lots of water - but scientists are saying that we may experience water shortages in the next few years because of climate change. To see how other people in the world use water we connected with a Water Explorer team in Switzerland who go to Collège des Tertres in Marin, We have compared notes on how much it rains and how much water people use. We also researched water in Ethiopia as we are hoping to have a joint Connecting Classrooms project with a school in Addis Ababa

In Switzerland people use up to 250 litres per day of fresh water.

In England people use around 150 litres per day of fresh water.

In Ethiopia people use around 10-20 litres per day of fresh water.

The UN suggest that people need at least 50 litres a day for drinking, washing and sanitation.

To help African countiries achieve SDG6 - Clean Water and Sanitation for all, last term we raised over £150 by selling cakes to raise funds for charity We donated the money to Toilet Twinning - two of our toilets in school are now twinned with two toilets in Malawi.
